Looks like a moon jellyfish to me, plenty of them around at the moment & not really a bad sting, even when alive. Watch out for Lion's Manes or the much rarer Portuguese Man o' War with its purple "sail" above the surface.

There have been a number of sightings of barrel jelly fish I believe along the south coast.
Several on Hayling Island beach reported in Portsmouth local paper. Also one at Priddy's hard.

Loads and loads of dead jellyfish washed up on Bute last weekend. Loads and loads of porpoises close inshore. I suspect these occurences are related.

I wasn't aware that porpoises eat jellyfish. I believe that jellyfish are what we will be enjoying in a few years when we have fishes the seas dry and even eaten the squid.

Turtles eat jellyfish. They swim from the Caribbean to Cardigan. Bay in search of a feast.

Leatherbacks eat jellyfish. Most species don't.

They (Leatherbacks) will also ingest plastic carrier bags believing them to be jellies and die as a result.
