It is serious: If they want to charge me to anchor I will charge them for using the cleat to secure alongside.
I put the cleat there myself so feel more entitled to charge than those who charge for having done nothing to prepare the mud.
Are they liable for lost ground tackle?
I think this is a great movement - So lets have a big hand for the wanchers!

I suggest that any petition regarding freeing 'own anchor' charging would be received ,and supported ,with a less frivolous double entendre, if it is to be taken seriously by any supporter or the recipients of the petition. FreeAnka or something similar helps to spell it out , the other just asks to be ignored. IMHO

Yes, I agree. This IS a serious matter and deserves the full support of all on here. Having a sensible logo and well designed website could do wonders.
While the suggested logo is fun, we don't want what we are pushing for to be taken in the same way do we?

Ohi! I produced that logo in full seriousness... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif ....I'd be very happy to contribute in any way I can to promoting anchoring in the South West.

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Sorry, yes, you're quite right. Looking at it again, the logo's fine, it's just that I associated it with the proposed 'name' and, whilst that's fun, I really do believe that few will take our intentions seriously if we stick with it.
With regards to getting people motiviated to object, once a website is set up and the basic aims established, I'll happily bend the ear of all my club's members and others, asking them to comply with any planned 'ban' or payment refusal campaign in harbours and ports in the West country.

Well..... re; the proposed name... I did not think that peeps would take this serious... so the silly name was really just a attempt to get some attention to the issue... and you have to admit... it has worked. I just dont think that any of this serious campagining has done us any good, I have reasons for these beliefs, but I think essentially sailing/boating is about having fun, and the majortiy of folks out their clearly dont really give a stuff about serious campaigns because they wanna have some fun.... we need to get these peeps using heir hooks and asking for places to do so that is easy for swmbo and the kids to get to the shops and feel at the center of the action...
Serious campaign like that started by that other magazine dont appear to have made any difference, So why dont we have some fun??
Some may find the acronym annoying, but you dont have to use it! And in fact, if enough peeps wanna change it then okee dokee...
In fact, feel free to start a more serious campaign and we can link em together and hit both ends....
