Wallas Heaters

looked at them at the last LBS - particularily impressed with the diesel hob that had a blower top doubling as a warm air heater - got a favorable mention in the PBO article on non gas cookers aabout 3 months ago; you might look up the article.
Unfortunately it was just a little too big for my boat but the mechanical build looked excellent.

Yep I remember the article but it was more like 6-9 months ago.

I know nothing of this brand either. I'm thinking of the boat resale value which is enhanced if the spec includes an Eberspacher but with a 'Wallas' ...I don't think so. I'm sure it's an excellent product but market perseption overrides common sence often.

Had a Wallas Kerosene (paraffin) heater which I put in a boat about 14 years ago. Took it out of that and fitted it into Freeman 24 for 10 years and then sold it for £200 to a mate when I sold the Freeman and it is still going strong. Thought it was wonderful. MAte still reckons it is wonderful too.

The paraffin model is same principle as the diesel one, just different fuel. Bought paraffin as the first boat was petrol outboard and didn't want diesel smell on board.

They're pretty well known and respected, and very reliable bits of kit. Mine was fitted in the boat in 79 and just needed a thorough overhaul to fix after 20+ years service. New owner loves it. Only prob is that the outlet is at waist height which makes the upper part of the boat lovely and warm whilst your feet freeze.
