VP TMD41a oil cooler leak

I work in an engine shop and also have clemments engineering just up the road for props.... :)
Where I work there's no such thing as a short engine out of a box, if a crack is worn it gets polished to the next size down in a lathe with emery tape and undersize bearings fitted, proper engineering.

H,mm some of us remember when the car engine wore out at 50,000 miles, you stripped it down a took it to one of the many engine reboring outfits who ground the crank and rebored the cylinder block and you walked away with a set of cork gaskets,a set of bearings for crankshaft/big ends and for the really fussy a valve or two too replace the odd burnt out exhaust valve beyond grinding rescue .
This would have been not usual task for a fairly meccy youth with an incomplete set of A/F spanners and tube of Red Hermatite.
For the seriously wedged it would have been a complete " Gold Seal" reconditioned motor. :)
For my generation , pulling it to bits for make do and mend was par the course.
The only difference now still involves pulling it to bits but being able to afford to tearfully buy a new one, only if all else fails.
