Keyparts or Volspec. When I was doing a major rebuild I let them bid against each other to supply the parts. Can't remember who I went with in the end as they both ended up within a few pence of the other.

Shop around - but those are the two main players in Volvo parts (outside a dealership) that I know of.

If you visit a motor factors (not Halfords, but a place where the trade buy their filters etc) armed with the Volvo numbers, the chances are they will be able to look up alternatives and sell them to you over the counter.
For what it's worth, the Volvo-branded filter 3581621 for the 2020-B is longer than any other alternatives I have found so I figured that it's probably a good idea to use that. It's a reasonable price from Keypart.
The fuel filter mounted on the engine, Volvo 861477, has a Fram alternative, P4178A.
If you have a standard water-separator primary fuel filter, there are bazillions of these filters used world-wide and the replacement elements are bog-standard bits from any of these places and cheap as chips. Fram number is C1191PL.

Sailorman. Do you have the same set of parts alternatives for the Volvo Penta 2010A or a source for me to bookmark and check? The source mentioned above yours omits any references for the 2010A.

Thank you

If you go on rkmarine or volspec website and click on parts shop you can view all engines and parts prices and if they are in stock, which in turn gives you the part numbers so you can go armed to your local filter dealer and haggle for the best non genuine price.

I personally like to use fleet guard, fram and Baldwin filters on older Volvo engines, which saves money in the long run.

Fleet guard are genuine parts on cummins engines.

There are also many Japanese filters on the Market that resemble OE and are of excellent quality which means you can treat your yanmar quite shrewdly every year.
