it seems to have next to no safety advantage over a conventional outdrive, if you're recovering or putting someone in the water, the engine should be off. The only mild safety advantage is that with a conventional outdrive you could still cut yourself on a stationary prop if you kick out at it inadvertantly when getting in or out of the water, but thats hardly a massive injury.

The performance/efficiency/purchase cost savings would need to be huge to make you take this over a regular outdrive. With the direction of the props as they are , they will want to screw themselves into any mud/sand you might happen to run into.

most of the benefits on the volvo penta websites also applies to regular duoprop drives, the only thing you can do with this drive that you cant with a regular drive is wakesurf. Seems a pretty niche product to me.
