Germany has quite good company registers.

The company does exist, however that is not the same as being a valid supplier of anything.
Unusual that a German website doesn't have a single word in German language.

Also there is no AGB, short for "Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen" (General Terms and Conditions), which bormally is stated due to German legislation and consumer protection. Company capital is 100 €.

The person behind it is Frederic Tesfay about who there is no trustworthy (web) signs of being an engine pro.

Thank you again guys... Funny thing about our potential scam guys... Not replying to emails or phone calls. I have the choice of Ireland or N Ireland depending on where the engine is located.
Will make a call to Lee, this morning as 11k is a bit steep... I also found this is in the states which uses the term ATK same as the German site, would say about 500 usd to ship.. to Ireland, then VAT and Duties.. https://www.jegs.com/i/ATK-Engines/059/8758/10002/-1 Looks like the correct engine also...

I wouldn't expect a high-quality job to be cheap but your own involvement/efforts might help.

Budgets need to be respected, however, the value of the boat after the project should be kept in mind. It might not make ROI-sense, but you want a good and safe boat to use for years to come, right?

I'm certain you wouldn't want to invest time and money to end up with something not working properly, as a forever ongoing Seastart/fix/repair experience, forcing you to sell the boat for pennies in the end..

Hi Guys,
I am now down to looking at these options to replace the engine as a long block/complete engine. The prices are all over the place but seem really similar as far as vortec engine to replace my volvo penta...5.7 vortec.
Im of course mindful of doing the job once only. So are these options potentially ok...

GM 5.7L V8 Vortec new Base Engine, marineparts.eu Costing some 11k Euro...

2010 Mercruiser V8 5.7 Mag 350 Mpi Marine Engine complete fuel pump flywheel ect | eBay Around 5k GBP

Raabspeed Imports | CRATE ENGINE CHEVROLET VORTEC 5700 V8 (L31-R) 96-02 | purchase online around 6.5k Euro

Ouch... my head... Now wondering do I need to change the risers and exhaust manifolds... or just have them checked.

Thanks for any thoughts.
Ian

The eBay offer looks like the most complete package and if its service history supports the low hours, it would attract my interest.
I'd like to give it a good lookover and hear it run.
And factor in to add freshwater cooling (much easier with the engine sitting on the floor).

Thought: How much of the electronics, remote control, steering, instruments etc. from the Volvo variant can be reused?

I have no idea on the electronics side of things but will research to see if sensors can be mounted onto merc engine. I think as you said... The idea of spending 5k 6k euro on something that should be ok... or replacing with a new unit at 11k... I was also offered a new merc 4.3 v6 for 8k.... less bhp .... so decisions... need to be based on checking everything first... as the labour side of things will not be cheap either...
