Hi i would appreciate your comments on volvo versus caterpillar engines ie reliable and service costs

Both engines are good ... the internet says that early CAT C12 had some issues with the charge air coolers, fixed on later engines.
For me, I would prefer Volvo simply because it's not a closed shop: parts diagrams are available, parts and dealers all over the place, and independent mechanics can service them.
