Looks like I need to replace a tacho due to a death in the instrument panel, if I buy new volvo one I pay a fortune and get a mismatched setup as I currently have two supeseded models, I'm not about to buy two volvo ones at their price so I'm thinking about putting a couple of Faria tacho's in the panel, I'd probably use the 4" gauges and make a spacer from the old volvo bezels to keep the hole snug.
Any thoughts as why I shouldn't or better replacement options before I bite the bullet?
Engines are TMD41's and I like to have the hour meters.

Hours are fine but the tacho reading keeps dying, I swapped side to side to see if it was wiring fault but it's definately the tacho, I opened and resoldered a few bits and it worked for a while and started to mess about again.
I've just had a reply from wema on a technical query so that is pretty good service already, I think I am going to take a chance on them.

The hours logged unit is replaceable with kit for sale about £50.00. Neat little video on Youtube showing you exactly how to do it.
Seems to be a simple job.
Also a Swedish chap has uploaded basic Volvo Penta repairs on youtube.
If you forget which way round that little plastic "O" ring cage goes inside the water pump, for instance.
