One for the historians, was the Volvo Penta TAMD series of engines a Perkins build or another engine producer.
Which one? There are loads over the years! my TAMD40b was a Volvo FL6 Truck engine, I suspect others may be non Volvo though...
In fact it was used as both an industrial and I believe may have been used in a truck i.e. D40 but not for long!Sorry no it wasn't , the30/31/40/41/42/43/44/300 block is a pure marine derived unit . Earlier volvos were sometimes sourced from the French Idenor unit .
The FL6 truck engine is the 60 series engine as per the 60A, B, C unit , which then became the 61/62/63 before production ceased mid 2006 .
