Does a new ECM need to be programed? They replace the ECM on the starboard engine and now the supercharger disengages around 2600 rpm and and cannot catchup with the port engine. It goes in and out.

Any thoughts

Pretty sure the KAD44 disengages the supercharger at 2600 rpm. The KAMD 300 disengages the s/c at 2800 rpm. Is it the correct ECU ? They are programmed from the factory.

Well mine used to disengage at around .2600 rpm anyhow as the turbos begin to boost up . It should If all is working correctly.
So maybe it’s a turbo not boosting up and the engine starts to sound like it hunting , as the rpm drops back the SC starts to kick in , then out for a bit until the turbo tires , in out in out .

Pip-age disturbed ? Or simply a duff turbo .These engines are renown for insidious turbo failure .
Even with the classic finger spin test you can not tell .
Often parts are thrown at them before it’s the turbos turn on the ever growing list .

Tachometer error?
Calibrated ?
Could be incorrect tacho and a duff turbo. but could be wrong ecu. Need to check rpm etc properly. There is also a label on the back of the ecu with a part number on it. Not easy to see whilst installed but might be able to get a phone camera up the back or undo the mounting bolts and connector and rotate it to get a look.

ECU's are programmed for each engine model by VP.

Manual says that Supercharger cuts out at 2800 rpm (it doesn't give different figures for KAD and KAMD).

The engine gets its speed from an RPM sensor. These don't need calibration. They do fail but wouldn't normally give your symptoms. Replacement are about £35.

Like Porto says, likely to be a knackered turbo (they only last 18-20 years). Replacements are cheap @ c. £750. Take the exhaust elbow off and look at the condition on the exhaust side.

To check that's it's not a duff ECU, swap with the one on the other engine.
