Volvo Penta D6 EVC-C issue

UK price for the kit is £7,882 inc VAT. But when there is a £3,360 buy-back of the old components and so eventually a price of just over £4,500 inc VAT

A new PCU inc pre-programming is probably getting on for around £2,500-£2,600 so certainly worth considering the upgrade

Your current displays would all be compatible as it’s EVC-D so unless you wanted to change to a Glass Cockpit screen, the price above should be all you need.

Where are you based?
@Andyroonot I am based in Singapore. Your pricing of the PCU including program is pretty accurate, sourced 3 quotes in Singapore and 1 from UK for the replacement. I however haven't gotten anybody to quote me for EVC-E upgrade yet and have no confirmation if the buy-back program would be applicable in 2025 for Singapore - I might lean to do the upgrade as I fear the rest of the electronics might also fail based on the history in this thread. Would you be able to share the part number of the upgrade package for the hydraulic steering - I wasn't able to find it on the usual parts catalog sources so far.

The kit number is 3802238, and UK pricing is £4,522 inc. VAT for the parts and then an additional £3,360 inc. VAT for the core charges; these should be refunded on return of the required old parts to Volvo.

As far as I am aware the service exchange system is offered all over the world and so this should be available to you in Singapore

Hi All,
just wanted to update that the final fix for the problem was to replace the PCU with a brand new one. I didn't want to take the risk with a 2nd hand PCU as they could break down anytime as well. Expensive fix but at least engines are working again without any issues.

Hi Morten
I had VP Mechanic on board testing errors. It was in fact the PU that was dead. He tested with 2 different PCU's and both made everthing work, so that was a new PCU 28K DKK, it came pre-programmed so it was plug'n'play, just had to calibrate a couple of times for all gauges to work.
If you have the same error codec it is most likely the PCU, however if you have dual engines I would try to move the buscable from HCU to PCU from the working enginge. The error does indicate that there is no data flowing between the 2, so it could be as simple as the datacable... If that does not help then you might be facing the PCU is defect...
Let me know how it goes.
Also test by turning off ALL power to the engine and wait 5 minutes, power on and see if you can start. I also tried to calibrate a couple of times which made it possible to start...

Lol. There are other currencies than sterling. Have a Google for what 'DKK' means.

Also why the OP would be quoting a price in sterling given his nationality.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think. :ROFLMAO:

WHAT HOW MUCH.

If you did your home work instead of being a dick . I was replying to Papparazzi who is based in Singapore so he would not be paying in DKKKKKDDDDF so HOW MUCH WAS IT.
You were replying to nobody. It's a single post with no other post quoted, Just shouty capitals aimed at no-one and everyone.

And you could have done the currency translation yourself instead of badgering other people to do it for you. What did your last slave die of?

But then again, since your post consisted of only two words, I somehow doubt anyone could have extrapolated the currency translation you were supposedly looking for.

If you don't want to be considered an ignorant git, take the time to frame your questions politely, legibly and coherently. If that's what you want of course. Otherwise, as you were.
