Hi guys and girls,

Im in the process of refurbing my princess 25 and i will be starting a new thread about the whole project rebuild. My reason for this post is i have got a volvo pent aq151c reconditioned engine, it was reconditioned about 10 years ago and was left out side with a cover over it, my friend has got it running but I'm after some various parts that have deteriorated, One of them being the sea water filter part. its a plastic container and im struggling to find a shop that does spares etc, any help would be greatly appreciated from you guys, i have been reading all the posts and i can not wait to get my boat in the water and use her for the first time :D

If your not bothered about a genuine Volvo part then I'd use a vetus one that's the correct bore size for the hoses, I'd also mount it on the bulkhead of the engine bay and install it BEFORE the sea water pump inlet, unlike most Volvo sterndrive engines where the strainer is after the impeller pump.

was hoping you would reply paul as i have seen u floating around but if im honest that has completly gone over my head. im not mechanically minded at all and ive given my engine to a friend to respray it and and get it looking like new. do u have a website for these parts, i aint fussed if their not genuine volvo parts as long as they work? where are you based paul?

Hi James.

The guy doing the refurb should know what you need and where to get one. I fitted a Vetus strainer to my engine. Google vetus. Mount it on the bulkhead. The hose that supplies the cooling water comes from a connection on the outdrive and connects to the sea water pump on the front of the engine. The strainer is plumbed in between the two. Very easy installation and not an expensive part. If struggling let me know and ill send you a link.

In the diagram below Part #20, actually now obsolete, comprising all the parts #21 to #28

Some ingenuity may be need to adapt the pipework and fit a standard Vetus strainer but could no doubt be done and be your best bet
