Volvo Penta 2003t Coolant Disappearing

Depends which original one you're talking about - there were at least 2 different designs.
We are talking 2003t, are we not? Which has a HE where the element is inserted one way, from the stern when viewed mounted. The 2002 and naturally aspirated 2003 had a "conventional" built exchanger with end plates. Never known any 2003t or 2003tb with any other HE

I don't have the boat any more to check, but I thought my 1990 2003T had what you call the "conventional" heat exchanger. It's a long time ago, though, so I could be completely wrong, or my engine could have been an odd one.

Perhaps worth noting that the 2003 block is designed for raw water cooling; it has provision for an engine anode, and the cooling channels are surrounded by plenty of metal. I am sure that any deficiencies in the indirect cooling system arise from it being an afterthought. If the OP's engine installation allows it, reverting to raw water cooling would be a perfectly rational way forward. My 2003 has lasted over 30 years with raw water cooling,!

Not too sure if that would be achievable. The T version of the 2000 series is only available in raw over fresh. The turbo is water cooled with a bleed on the turbo and a header tank.

Fair enough - I did say that it might not be applicable to the OP's situation. I did wonder about the cooling for the turbo.; mine is normally aspirated.
