Not sure what the Perkins info is telling us. It doesn't alter the fact that they have copper-lead bearings. As do Kubota, Bukh, Yanmar. If these manufacturers thought that putting 5w-40 oil in their engines was a good idea they would say so in the manuals. None do. 15w-40 is pretty much universal except in very old manuals (e.g. Bukh) where they recommend a monograde SAE 30. I doubt very much that they would do so today.
