Can anyone tell me what gear oil to use in the Volvo Penta 2002. Can't seem to find the suggested oil in the owner's manual.

If anyone can let me know what they use that would be really helpful..

Many thanks.

You dont say if it is a shaft drive with MS2 gearbox or a 120S sail drive but whichever its the same oil as the engine isn't it

Or is it a 120S-E saildrive which uses a 75W-90 synthetic gear oil. Or some other gearbox

What oil is suggested in your manual?

Thanks for replying Vic.

It is a shaft drive but not sure if it is the MS2 gearbox. In the manual it suggests "CD SAE 15W/40".

I wasn't sure if I use the same oil as in the engine?

Yep that's engine oil. Although CD is an obsolete specification for diesel engine oil .. up to CI-4 now I think. Use whatever you use in the engine

See Vyv Cox's website for general info about oil grades ( for engines)
