Volvo MD22 starter motor

My starter motor has packed up. From name plate it is a "Lucas Marine Type M??R starter motor" part No 2873859. Where can I get a replacement from, or equivalent. Looking to replace with a "standard off the shelf" starter motor

My Perkins Prima M50 - same engine as MD22 - has a starter with an isolated -ve return ie no current goes through the engine block as it does on most automotive starters.
You should check whether yours is the same before you go and buy something "off the shelf" .

Usually the cheapest solution is to have your starter motor refurbished rather than buying a replacement. Contact a local auto-electrics workshop (see Yellow Pages) for a quote.
