hello out there.
i have a 25 yr old.volvo 36 hk 3cyl. 17 c. motor. with a mono shift back gear.
THE PROBLEM
last season i had trouble with reverse.when i pulled into reverse there could go 30 sec before the coupling engaged. some one suggested over this forum. that i could remove one or two of the shims under the quadrant bolt. it seemed to help. last year. but its started again.
i have taken the gearbox out of the boat. its lying in my work shed.
i have taken the aft end of the geargox away from the middel part. so i want to see whats going on in the part where the seawater cooling runs.i have taken the C ring off the axel. but when i using a plastic hammer try to knock the axel out i can feel there is something solid. a C ring or something. and if i look at the aft end of the box where the flange is.it looks like there is a thread.
i have a workshop book but its in swedish. please can anyone help me.
