Its that time of year again. Anybody recommend a decent distributor of spares for V***o that is resonably priced and maybe even web based. AD41's on 290 legs. Normal kinda stuff; filters, belts, impellors, cooling hose (£60 for one hose from local V***o dealer) is it really a special material, as it spells out in the service manual, I doubt it.

Advice appreciated

I'm surprised that no one has responded with the standard place which is Keypart in Watford. They do most of the bits, some will be Volvo branded others not. Although they have a website don't bother they generally use the phone.
Normal trick from their is to find car/truck equivalents and buy them from the local motor factors.
Belts are pretty much universal so either a bearing specialist or your local mo factors. Try the Vol pen website some of us hav posted the equivalents there.

I have used Volspec, very good service and very experienced parts people, that go out of their way to help. They were doing a special offer with 10% off everything recently, don't know if it is still on but they are open to negotiation.

Just find out what the engine is based on, car/truck. Then go to your local spares place and get the stuff from there. The pemp impeelars are normally Johnson bits on volvo's but its worth checking with the old bit. Cooling hoses, unless shaped or spurred, will be the same in whatever application they are used in. They've got to stand heat, pressure, expansion and contraction.

Theres another poster hereabouts that has volvo diesels. I sourced filters etc at the fraction of the "normal" marine price, eg oil filters for £1.45 apiece. There not cheapo ones either, but branded comercially available equivilents. Its all down to a bit of research and looking.

I was offered two books fromMMS Direct as they were then, one VP and one an independant as they were only £8 each I bought both. The VP one is titled DIY servicing and covers AD31, AD41 and KAD42 engines, it is the more useful book as it lists VP part numbers, special tools etc needed for specific tasks.

I can't rememnber who MMS direct are trading under now they were taken over in 2002.
