My understanding is that at least since 1994 the saildrive is electrically isolated from the engine which therefore has no permanent contact with the seawater and therefore has no sacrificial anode.
Although how this works with the seawater in the heat exchanger I do not know ?
Perhaps someone out there can explain it to us ? Perhaps the heat exchanger is also electrically isolated from the rest of the engine ?
I have an MD2010. I asked a Volvo engineer at a boat show about changing the anode, and he said that the engine does not have one because it is "electrically insolated", whatever that means.
