Could someone tell me how many zincs there are in the cooling system of a Volvo 2003. Is there one in both the seawater and freshwater side? - if so, where are they??

thanks

If you have freshwater cooling, with a header tank, you most probably don't have an anode. I have a 2003T with freshwater cooling, and I spent some considerable time searching for the wretched anode. But it wasn't there!

Hi,

Was the fresh water cooling on your Volvo 2003 an add on? if it was then you will have a Pencil anode on the front of the engine. With the fresh water system you will get zero loss on this anode. The salt water side of the heat exchanger will be protected by a pencil anode, mines on the underside of the heat exchanger so when the anode is removed any water drains out, also it ensures the zinc does not fall out of its holder.
The Volvo 2010/2020/2030 all have fresh water cooling as standard factory fitted.
All the best
Trevor

Hi,
Its under the exhaust manifold on the engine block just behind / under the alternator it should be a brass square headed nut there is only one. if your engine was fresh water cooled from new it may not have one. If you take the Thermostat out you can see the end of it.
