It looks like the residence permit is for people who stay at least 6 months and pay tax - it doesn't look like there is a Tourist Visa Extension for Spain - but I would email the Spanish Consulate in London and ask (you may have to visit them to apply if there is a visa).

That is good advice, I wil probably do that

However, I would rather pay UK income tax than Spanish Income tax. I have a girlfriend that is a Spanish resident, and a Dutch national. We spend the summers in my house here in Mersea, and the winters in her flat in Ibiza - So i don't rent or buy. However, perhaps I could buy as an investment if that helps

One thing you can explore is that family members of people with residency can enjoy the same benefits but I think you would need to formalise the relationship.

What do you mean by "Formalize the relationship"? Marry? I already have one wife, and I think having another would cause more problems than it solves
