I was stupid enough to open a "Christmas Card" email from a source known to me this morning.

Turned out to be a virus - which in turn tried to email all my contacts - I realised quickly and disconnected from the internet - but took me 5 hours to fix.

Beware electronic Christmas Cards.

The antivirus companies were issuing warnings about this yesterday. If everyone updates their virus definitions, they will be fine, and can continue opening legit xmas cards

I've been receiving dozens from someone called Gerry Burby all day today. They are no problem as long as you keep your virus definitions up to date. Anti spam software that lets you see all your e-mail before downloading is also useful as 90+% never get on to your system in the first place. Mailwasher is a good one and has a free version to download.
