Hi, I have an old river Viking. We have started renovating it, but lots of issues to find someone to put carpet on the sides of the boat or vinyl on the floor. It's my first boat so no experience. Do I need to put first ply lining before carpeting? How do I find someone to do it? Not that confident to do it by myself Thank you, Gosia

Lots of older boats had carpet on the sidewalls and ceiling in the cabin, so nothing unusual there. Rip the old stuff off and use as a template for cutting new carpet or whatever you want to use, then stick on with spray evostick. In my marina a chappie got a carpet fitter to do his, paid him cash and promised him a ride on the boat.

Hi, it's all ripped off. In oundle marina no one wants to pick up this job...do I need a special kind of a carpet or it could be felt? And evostick? Thank you

You would need a stretch carpet as mentioned above readily available from camper van suppliers

A mate of mine bought a Viking 23, we found there was no access to the underfloor bilge area so we made a hole & fitted an inspection hatch. We pumped about 80 litres of water out of there so if yours is the same I would suggest you do this. You will struggle to find people to do these sorts of jobs for you but they aren't too difficult and will increase your confidence and knowledge. Good luck & come back for more advice if/when you need...(y)
