It's surprising how much energy is contained in compressed gas. The differential pressure between the inside and the outside of the Comet pressure cabin was about half an atmosphere, but when the cabin failed it blew the plane apart.

in our village we have wot woz / is known as "The Asbestos Road" almost every farm track for 20 miles is made of GUESS WOT /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I concur; A tyre blew out on the travel hoist where I worked a few years ago. Pieces of the tyre put holes in the insulated wall of our big shed (2layers of wriggly tin with rockwool between). Harry, who was walking alongside the hoist at the time, was lucky enough to only need a change of pants and not an ambulance. It would have been a bit of a scunner to have survived three tours in Ulster, being blown up and shot (metal plate in head), only to be despatched by a badly repaired rubber donut.
