Our colleague Sailing Gently has just put up a new video on YouTube:

His advice on boats includes the usual suspects: Moody, Rassy, Nicholson, Island Packet etc, which may well make some people grumpy, but it's a good watch. 🪖

Well that was a watch.

He doesn't like catamarans because he doesn't like them and the catamaran he has been on which dates from the 70's or 80's had smaller sleeping cabins than his/a monohull.

He makes a sweeping statement that having two steering wheels makes a boat unsuitable for offshore.

The boats he recommends are universally not still in production / gone bust (a modern HR with twin wheels is not safe offshore in his opinion).

His comments around not being able to pick up work whilst underway "unless a pretty girl looking for bar work" omits the whole modern world of online working.

The phrase that comes to mind is "old man shouts at clouds"

I thought it was a reasonable perspective, especially the bit at the end about YouTube channels, getting bored, and doing other things. I strongly disagree with a lot of the boat talk, but that's a very subjective discussion at the best of times. Certainly a subject that has generational bias so I wouldn't argue with him as his opinions are valid within his experience.
