I'm heading off in a few weeks on a circumnavigation and recently changed my perfectly good 3kw inverter that had worked flawlessly for 2 years (24/7 with electric galley etc) for a new Victron Multiplus 3kw solely because I hoped that if it needed parts or had issues I would benefit from the worldwide network and the reputation of Victron. I think the end result you have, shows that it was worth the cost for that peace of mind.

Keep the old one as a spare! There are places in the world where getting stuff is very difficult. Shipping a new 25kg inverter can be a long and expensive.
Get a T short printed with the words "no I am not local, I am just waiting for parts"
