There could not be two more opposite events !!
Ventspils to Gotland with no wind most of the way but rolling swell ...
Gotland back to Ventspils caught tail end of storm that should have cleared earlier ..
Disappointed with Farosund - I always liked farosund as it was welcoming .. had diesel ... quiet and friendly ... now ? Change of owners of marina and no diesel and service zero ... but we moved on to Valeviken ... to a completely different atmosphere ... certainly now preferred harbour !
Farosund of course will still be transit stop point when going to Stockholm Archipelago ...
Like every trip - you realise a number things you haven't fixed or changed .. few things show up to fix later !! The Furlex is getting bad on its bearings ... so will need stripping down and servicing. The midships cleat issue needs to be sorted .. its a pain without. Windex arrow has lost its tail part - Seagull most likely stood on it ! B&G data displays are useless and need sorting ... Tillerpilot jumped of the tiller pin a few times - so need check pin / slot in tillerpilot arm ...
But basically a trip that will stick in memory .... the videos do not show anything like the severity of the seas on that return trip .. but as indication - that Self Tacker is about 50% of a #1 .. and she was averaging over 6.5kts just on that with occasional 8 - 9kts ...
Boat will be lifted next few days ... its too cold at night now to be out there and short day trips are not my scene ... better get her out now and use the reasonable warm days to sort out work on her ... get the Cherry Picker to sort out masthead ... flag halyards ... etc.
