Charlie's 'Damage Report,' for @ridgy :

Tear in J0 (unconfirmed, but large downwind sail certainly), after 'the low,' in the Indian. Patched up and used to good effect subsequently.
Port side hull crack, composite repairs effected.
Keel hydraulics. Repaired
Pilot ram. Swapped out
Sundry clutches & halyards. Replaced, from spares box

.......gleaned so far......(from arrival 'Live')

Word from Sam G:

Enjoying Charlie's win. Philosophical about Jeremie moving (8nm) ahead / Paul closing up (17nm) astern. In their new gen boats.

Sticking with his 'push hard, but don't break the boat' philosophy. Sailing his own race. A strategy which has done him proud thus far.

Maybe the 50kt low, which Sam spoke of, as lying ahead, will present some tactical opportunities? What does your routing software say @Buck Turgidson ?

.....If they end up on port tack/gybe, at any point, Jeremie may be compromised. If he ‘repaired’ his starboard foil rake ram by wedging it into a fixed position (like Clarisse).......

J2 in the water and forestay snapped (or, its swivel has), aboard Paul Meilhat's Biotherm. In hot pursuit of Sam G. Mast still standing - which is quite an achievement. (Think Paul says) sail went round the keel and is lost. Making 13+ kts (same as Sam G and Jeremie) at the 18.30 'speed gun.' Delta to Sam, 41nm.

Once they get across the ridge of high pressure they will be on port all the way to Iberia on the back of a dying depression . Looks like a straight run towards Lisbon then pick up a the southerly flow from the next low which might bite before it also dies. GFS has stronger winds than ECW which has them running out of wind for a while once past the Azores.

When one hovers over a boat on the tracker and it pops up data such as speed, course, temperatures etc. - the wind speed and direction appears to be merely what PredictWind is showing for the boat's location, not live data from the boat. Is that the case?

Yes, forecast rather than actual.

Cropped Yoann in the canal LSO Credit Jean_Louis Carli Aleajpg.jpg

As Yoann celebrates second, in Les Sables' canal.........

Oli Heer Horn crop.PNG

Oli Heer savours his achievement, of rounding Cape Horn. ETA, in Les Sables, predicted as 15 February (with Denis VW not expected until March 2).

Brings home the speeds achieved by the leading foilers. The winner of the battle for fourth (Sam G v Jeremie Beyou v Paul Meilhat) is over a week away from the finish line.

Alarm set, for single-foil-Seb, on Friday.
