Think a Christmas Day rounding was required, to claim a new Vendee Globe record...... Here are Yoann & Charlie an hour away, from Cape Horn, at 22.00 on December the 23rd.......Yoann leading Charlie, by 14nm, or 40 minutes' sailing time. Let the battle of the Atlantic commence!

EDIT: Armel Le Cleac’h rounded Cape Horn 47 days and 34 mins, after the start of the 2016 Vendée Globe. Setting the current record. Yoann & Charlie looking likely to do it in 43 days 11-12 hours….

Getting feisty in Sam G’s pack. Closing in on Thomas Ruyant. Justine on the move….

Pip nicely positioned (what will be) 150 nm upwind of Melbourne Heads, for when the westerly blow arrives…..Wonder if the plan is to take Medallia to the mast; or the mast to Medallia? I’m suspecting the former may be the simpler solution. (Easier to transport a boat than a mast? Allows sourcing of sails etc to be postponed? Saves an arduous delivery trip home?). That’s my uninformed guesswork though. @flaming may have a better idea?

The battle royal, between Yoann & Charlie in full swing. With Seb still in the mix, once he gets going on starboard. Rio by New Year’s Eve Eve??? What do you reckon @Buck Turgidson ?
