I imagine there's a lack of reports coming from the fleet at the moment due to them all finding their stride, clearing busy sea lanes and just settling down. Once the skippers have time to relax a little they'll start churning out the media.

Agree seven boats have them and it will be interesting to see if they survive the huge loads of the big swells and seas. The other issue is if they fail would they hole the boat, I assume there is a sacrificial joint if they are torn off but is there, anyone know?

yes, they do. A YouTube report from one of the Boss team explained that everyone has some form of sacrificial mechanism in place in case it all goes pear shaped.

Alex has fallen to 9th with 32 nm to the leader. That early gybe has cost him.

The VendeeGlobe iPhone app has now been fixed and works quite well - better than the clunky website.

I think also the light wind so far don't suit his boat. His sail wardrobe is optimised around the higher apparent wind speeds and angles of a high speed hull (more like multi-hull in performance).

There's plenty of miles still to go, and the early breeze showed that his boat is quick. I don't imagine he is worried at all.

Android version now seems to have the same affliction. Says it needs new version. Then crashes out downloading.

The Android app was doing that for the last few days.... but seems good now and doesn't prompt for any new download.
Uninstall and re-install if needed.
The App appears to work lot quicker than using a web browser for tracking..

He admits the gybe was a silly mistake and puts it down to lack of sleep.

Alex has made up 2 place, since his mini gybes, interesting though.

Not sure the Irishman's inshore route is paying off
