I have just taken delivery of a brand new yacht. What documentation should I have been given to show that VAT has been paid? Is an invoice sufficient or is there a separate VAT certificate?
Also suggest you retain invoices/receipts for any major additions or extra equipment you buy for the boat, showing VAT payment, just in case somebody get sticky someday. Otherwise take a chance, go to Guernsey and buy your extras VAT-free (but sometimes at a higher price than some on-line suppliers).
