I have an Avon Rover that is 32 years old and going strong but the UV has finally got the better of the exposed side of the floorboards, underside is still very good I think it is the original Avon varnish too! What varnish to use, Thinking one pack polyurethane, simple basic yacht varnish at about £10 per 500ml from International or Hempel. Anyone tried the No Nonsense yacht varnish from tool station.? What does the forum suggest, I see no point in using top of the range yacht varnish for dinghy floor boards that is used to get from the boatyard to my swinging mooring.

I put a plywood floor in our Avon last month, among the miscellany of left over paints was a full tin of No Nonsense yacht varnish which must be at least 12 years old, bought from Screwfix when I was extending our house, amazingly it was still fresh, no skin and if anything less thick than normal, a good stir and I used it all, soaked in well and dried quickly, much better than I expected. Of course the formula has probably changed since this was made?

As the floorboards get a fair amount of wear I would consider using International Woodskin. This can easily be touched up when required - less work than varnishing and I think it looks good

The least durable wood coating you can buy, strange cos Sikkens stuff was good. There are two handrails on my coachroof plus a hatch lipping which I coat with it. two coats every year but if you as much as scowl at it it needs touched up, not really an outdoor product?
