Van der Valk 23M in build

These things are all personal taste of course, but, I actually like the wood, but couldn't live with the gold in the mosaic
Yeah, but don't get me wrong, I also like wood - a lot.
I'm surrounded by tons of it as I'm typing, heating turned off since last night and still 22° onboard, courtesy of the glorious sunshine which we had today...
I was just arguing that the "no accounting for taste" is more evident in the shapes choosen for the woodwork (*), while with the mosaic it's "only" the colour which is debatable...
All imho anyway, of course. :)

(*) PS: and also the marble, incidentally.

Thanks for the pics on the 26m, amazing interior, much more to my liking then the 23m although that shows more of the carpenters skills.
I am a bit disapointed with the size of the pilot house, from the drawings I expected there to be more seating for guests to enjoy the view.
Not sure if I can make it to Dusseldorf, but if I do I will surely drop by.

I know it's the 23m build thread, but the one thing that disturbs me on the outside is the round window in the side door, I supose you can do something that more fits the window lines ?

Hey newWave,

We are now building a Continental III 25.00 RPH, she has a completely different wheelhouse layout, maybe this would be more your taste :-)

See you (maybe) in DuDo :)

Ps. the window, yes it can be changed to the lines of the ship, it was a "special touch" by Guido de Groot ;-)

I originally thought they were Doric but I bow to your greater knowledge of Greek architectural history. You are correct!

Russian, I bet
:D

mike doric austerity and Russian neorich dont go together...
Doric have plain capitals that wont impress many (unless seen in their normal setup)
Im actually impressed they did nt opt for the more busy corinthian!
Nice boat shame about the owners taste

cheers

V.

I should have known, you'd have a great response to my remarks. Keep up the good work and have a good show.

As an afterthought, to me it seems like you are actually building one offs these days instead of sticking to the line as per your website. Does this mean you are more moving into custom building rather then semi-custom?
Or is it just so that the special projects are more shown to the public ? Maybe you should convince Mr. Van der Valk to build a one off to the forum members spec's, I bet jfm and MapisM would have a field day ;)

LOL, yeah, that would be fun.
But actually, I think we would agree on most equipments, at the end of the day.
Scatter cushions aside, that is.... :D

We'll, honestly the current full (and almost full) custom and semi-custom ratio is about 50/50 at the moment. 2-3 years ago we mainly (I think close to 85/90%) built semi-customs. But I think that you hear more about these full and almost full custom projects, probably because people find those exterior changes more interesting?

Hehe not a bad idea to built a forum spec one off, hahah!! Would be fun to know what special characteristics and options would be added by each member! :):)

Yoeri,

Is it this 23m that had it's hardtop installed today (as per facebook) ?
That means shes all but finished, so what about some more pics ? Or does the customer not wish to show off his pride and joy ?

Hi all,

Another update on the construction of the 23M yacht.
She is becoming very close to finish (delivery expected within a few weeks).
Last week we have installed the hardtop (made of 3mm aluminium).

The following is completed (or nearly completed) in the interior:
- Ceilings (ultra leather upholstered)
- Lighting / Lights + additional hardware
- Wooden floor in saloon
- Dashboard installing
- Bathrooms Onyx countertops + additional hardware
- Wall panel upholstery
- All carpentry is finished and only needs hardware

As well on the exterior:
- Flybridge dashboard + outdoor galley
- Aluminium flybridge hardtop

I am surprised, wasn't expecting an Edwardian/art deco interior.!!!!!!

Beautifully built, congratulations.:) [not too sure about the ballroom ceiling lights]
