Valencia F1 Grand Prix

Hi Mike - hope you and Mary and all have a really great time, we can't get back out until the first week in July, large CHP Project to get out for University of Essex! it should be a really enjoyable event, 7 different drivers winning GP's so far this year leaves the championship wide open, one of the best years for a long time!

BTW Let me know how the lift and scrub goes - I expect to receive some photo's......!

Will look out for you on the bend.....

We've just arrived at Valencia ready for the grand prix. Brought the boat, princess 64 from vilamoura Portugal. It's interesting seeing the city prepare for this large event!

It is very rare that I read a post on here and think, "I'd love to be there doing that". But this is one of those occasions.

Provisioned up, a/c nice and chilled, fridges set to temp, Bimini up - the union flag is a lovely touch, and hopefully a fun weekend. I suspect until the big crowds come on Sunday you will be surprised how easy it is to get around.

Have a really great time and look forward to reading about how it goes.

Henry :)

Blimey - thats a result mike

Your first pix shows that is possible to get as close as you would at say Becketts at Silverstone where you can feel the air shift as cars pass.

I'm looking forward to seeing the bimini flag and reading your story with loads of pix later.

Enjoy!

Lucky bast...d

Update

Still in Sant Carles - typing this is brilliant sunshine - gentle breeze - just finished a few cold beers and a prawn lunch.
TV news indicates storms over the UK - what a shame!!!

All going to plan.
Boat lifted yesterday for a quick wash.
Kids due out here on Saturday
Then we leave our home berth on Tuesday in company with a Sealine T52.
Two berths booked at the little port of Las Fuentes for Tuesday night.
The distance from here to Valencia is less than 100 miles but the kids had holidays in Las Fuentes when they were small so calling in to the old haunt was a definite requirement.

This will mean arrival at Valencia around mid day Wednesday.

I'll try to upload some pics etc but it will depend upon a good internet connection - oh - and time!!

Hi Mike,

Sounds fantastic - hope you all have a great time! You're certainly not missing a lot back here...

Looking forward to hearing how the various methods of prop protection are working out! Are you present at the lift to get some pictures?

Enjoy the F1

All the best,

Robin

Wow, there's close to the circuit and then there is "Scattered with burning debris" close!

Just very jealous really!! Ear defenders will be essential though.

Lots more picture please and I will be looking to spot JW on the TV.

If you fly a big Princess flag, perhaps Bernie will come along and pay you to take it down ! (As per wot happened in Monaco :) )

Yes, ear defenders even at that range. It's going to be a blast for the offspring !

Hurricane,
Great photos, very envious as I've been the Valencia F1 a couple of times (land side) - I love how everyone goes down to the beach for a party after the race!

How did you find Las Fuentes? I used to be a regular visitor.

Yes - we do have some Princess flags
We were discussing flying one last night
Didnt think of making a few quid like you say though.
However there is a long agreement that we had to sign before berthing here and I'm sure we would be told to take them down.

On the subject of flags - we plan to fly several union flags but the kids dont want the large Spanish and Catalonia flags - apparently they dont support Alonso !!
Being the skipper, I am putting my foot down - the boat lives in Spain and I think it's a mark of respect. It is quite possible that I will be overruled though!!

We have popped into Las Fuentes a few times with the boat since she's been in Spain.
There are some significant changes to the area since we holidayed at my parents villa some 20 years ago.
We didn't visit it this time but the restaurant at El Pinar was/is a favourite - on a good day you can see the Columbrettes from there.
