...apart from the constant pong always enjoyed that constant weep from the pump handle shaft and wondering if it was wee / something far worse or hopefully merely salt water on your hands .
At least with marine bogs from the 20th century the flush is foot operated rather than requiring the urgent need to disinfect the hand used to pump out the £$%^& in the system.

..............a glance at any calendar will reveal its 2024 not 1964. :)
Current boat came with Jabsco quiet flush electric toilets in both of our heads. Not exactly quiet, but not as bad as the manual to electric conversions. No leaks and no smells, parts are cheap and they are easy to work on.

If you had a constant leak that's your fault, you should have fixed it.

As for smell, Jabscos don't smell any better or worse than anything else, it's the same stuff that goes in them all. The rotten egg smell you mentioned earlier happens to all sea water flush systems that are left for a few days with water in them. On previous boats we used to rinse them through with fresh water before leaving them. The current boat is fresh water flush, no smells at all.

That said, will shortly be swapping the one in the day heads for a Planus, but only because it's posher to look at and will be much quieter.

Another interesting bogs thread :ROFLMAO: my new-to-me boat has Sanimarin freshwater flush electric loos. They seem to work well and are very quiet, not seen these before. Was originally thinking of swapping for Tecma but can't see the need now. Maybe some horror stories to follow...!

"you never thought to replace the cheap o-ring? Lack of maintenance is a user issue not a design flaw."

Yer... but do you replace just the "O" ring and leave the rest of the old worn out pump in place or replace with a complete genuine new pump or some cheapo chinese knock off at fraction of the price or why not go the whole hog and swap for posh electric pump conversion .
And what happens when you strip the threads in the plastic pump body and then need to source some bigger stainless self tappers in yet another boat bodge.
Decsions Decsions .

Always used to think that the engine on a motor boat was the most important item aboard.
I was wrong.

Can understand the KISS bog principal from the point of view of the lone hardened single handed yachtsman but some of us are lucky enough enjoy the company of the fairer sex afloat and a glorified bucket of salt water with pump attached really does not cut it.
Next , heaters on boats ?

Nothing to wear out on the pump aside from the other cheap oring.

My partner lived on board for two months quite happily with a Jabsco on our sabbatical and she’s also looking forward to moving on board next year when we quit our jobs. I suspect it’s the lack of maintenance putting them off rather than the loo model.

My partner and i have both lived aboard full time on this boat for over two years. The two Jabsco quiet flush toilets have performed well, if a little noisy, do not smell one little bit and have required zero maintenance.

I got an electric force4 heads about 4 seasons ago and, touch wood, it is still working flawlessly. Not particularly quiet but then neither is a manual jalisco pump. Had a wet wipe incident which required me digging it out, and a crew debrief, but no harm done. Electric head means crew likely to pump through properly so less calcium build up or risk of smell due to black water sitting in pipes.

I've never seen an electric head pump for long enough to clear the pipe, not by a long way. Are you sure it's completely flushing the outlet pipe through to the hull?
