Is it possible to get a switch that will turn on my vacuum/dust extractor when I start my table saw, and switch it off after its stopped. Not essential but would make life more conveniant!!

All on 240v in my garage.

More a workshop question than strictly boaty I know.

I've got a Makita workshop vac that does exactly that. You plug the tool into a socket on the vac and then that into the power and it runs only when you pull the trigger on your saw etc.

Would a current sensing switch do the same thing for £18. Perhaps in conjunction with an AC contactor for £8 to take the amps?

I bought 2 of these a couple of years ago about £10 each, for turning the vac on when using the track saw or mitre saw. They work great but when I tried it on my large table saw but it blew the integral fuse in the adaptor which wasn't replaceable so it's worth checking the load.

How large is your table saw (if its not a personal question 🤣)

Where did you get that smj master slave item from. Google is not helping me today...

The motor on the table saw is 2.2kw. The hard to read moulded info on the adaptor says 6A so I guess that's the problem
It looks like they are no longer making them but at the time I bought mine it was 2 for the price of one from an Ebay seller.

Apparently there are moves to change what they're called. No longer master/slave switches. Now they're controller/peripheral. 🙄

And now the issues with this set up (using a kemo 103M master slave switch)

It works fine for short time use.

On running the saw and vac for longer periods it cuts out

My fault, the table saw is rated 15amp, and vac at 5amp. Too much of the 16amp M/S switch

Could I fit a 240v relay to the slave side to switch on the vac?

Would that be a reliable solution?

Screenshot_20240802_220659_com.microsoft.office.outlook_edit_2406829034253049.jpgyes, that works!! Once the relay is plugged in of course

Next step is to box in the relay, junction box, & M/S switch.
