Useful tool

I got this ages ago, I can not remember where from.

It is a Metric Converter, a really useful application. No installation required, it just runs. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

If you want to save it to your PC, right click on the above link and select "Save Target As..." then point to where you want it to be saved. Sorry to those who I am teaching to suck eggs....

Where on earth did that saying come from, teaching someone to suck eggs, I have never sucked an egg in my life. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

The full saying is "dont teach your Gradma how to suck eggs" my father often used it and I believe it refers to the old practice, when one collected birds eggs, of putting pin pricks in each end and then sucking (more like blowing out the contents thus leaving an egg which wont go off to add to your collection.

I stand to be corrected cos it was a long time ago

To suck eggs

Nah! when I was a boy my Grandma used to prick both ends of the egg, sitting one end in a half cup of water and suck out the yolk spitting it into the now empty cup. the water replaced the yoke and she sealed it off with sealing wax of the same colour of the egg. we eat the eggs and the eggs became "buying and selling" eggs (rather than eating eggs). My gran was a real sucker she was!
