I have an asus notebook which only has USB ports. I have seen that Mailspeed supply a memory map marine chart with UK and Ireland charts on a DVD format. I asked them if it would be possible for me to load it on to my PC at home then transfer it to my note book to use as a backup chart plotter on my boat, when I have installed a USB GPS dongle. Un fortunately they have not replied.
Is there anyone out there who has been able to do this.
My boat is a steel Ebbtide 33. I have no trouble getting my mobile phone to work inside the boat, will the GPS dongle work inside, or will I have to use an extension cord with the USB stick outside the cabin under the canopy to get a signal.
The memory map has 800 charts for £41.99, a very good price, I would prefer not to have to spend any more cash if possible.
