Urgent help required on an important safety matter

Mitch - is there the equivalent bulliten board as this in the diving world? If so, it would be worth putting the same thread there, and linking to this one.

Already done, infact I spent most of yesterday on the keyboard representing divers on this forum and boaters on the dive forum......my customers got rather negelcted yesterday!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

When a boat is about 15mtrs away from a diver who is about to surface, and showing no sign of giving way there's a good chance they'll be an accident!!! Should I just stand by and hope there isn't!!!!
By the way we weren't diving in a busy shippingboating route, and never do! The vast majority of the boats going past were at least 500mtrs away!! They few that caused the problem soon had to alter course to avoid the rock/cliffs etc.

I'm not trying to preach to anyone, just trying to get a meassage across so my "chums" and I can go diving safely. Read all the posts, you'll see I've learnt something too!!

If you are a dive boat with a serious risk to the divers then noise / flashlight or something must be very tempting. Not sure best combination that you can use to stop people coming though as it may get people to come closer to see what the problem is. VHF?

A stobe might work, so long as not confused with other things, and ultimately internationally recognised. Perhaps this is the bit that actually needs the work - a better (modern) signal for this. Flags/boards are all very well but they will not always be seen from far away enough - you need someting that grabs at the attention.

one of the persons in the club was a bit strange, the neoprene we used to make our suits with, used to give of a rather rubbery smell, it turned him on!! literally, even when it was cold he used to have a noticeable lump in his wet suit, used to brag about it!!
