Hello fellow sailors in French waters
a couple of updates.
The way Navigational Warning are distributed via internet has changed, now they can be accessed through a new platform called Ping
PING
PING
it includes various types of nav warnings.
Also, for users of mobile devices, they have introduced a new free app called 'Nav&co' : it shows all SHOM raster charts, which can also be downloaded for offline use; if the device has a gps the app can show the user position/track. The app can be configured to show various layers, from all NavWarnings (automatic import from Ping), areas with seagrass, marine reserves, local regulations etc. there are also photographs of most buoys and beacons ('Balisage' layer, then click over specific aton). With internet access the app has links to Meteo France weather forecasts and SHOM data for tides. It's still under development but has already a number of nice features.
