I decided to fit a flattening reef on my newish but badly cut(too full) mains'l.The result I must say, was amazing.I fitted my own make of cringle to both ends of the foot at a height of approx.25cm and when everything is fully tensioned most of the extra fullness is lost and I can now sail to windward without having the sail constantly backed up by the genoa draft.I'm using a cunningham to tension the luff.
I´m still getting a new main from Kemp next year but at least for now I've got something that works.

Mirabriani, you are a naughty boy.
I say, thats a bit low, cross threading when poor old 30boat took a pasting on the previous subject. Shame on you Sir. After all he did have the good grace to stay below the parapet, and return with this one.

Did you try out this system by tightening up all in the first reef, and then alter the sail, or did you just plunge in and do it?
