It just occured to me, that using an outboard of the back of a 20 odd ft boat is not something that an inexperienced yachty would want to do, esp if the weather is bumpy. In a well, OK, but hanging off the transom, give him quite a lot of extra work that he does not need in the conditions, apart from the prop coming out of the water every wave. Done that, in the Alderney Race in the night, and it was in a well, but very bumpy, F7.
