Underwater lights

Praps this one is a bit more relevant, although I think a Nordhavn might be an unusual boat for underwater lights. Pleasingly for sigmasailor this particular boat is owned by a bloke called Ken.

Already doing that SP . Here is my previous boat with 4x Lumishore 120s. No trick long-exposure photography - you can see that the other lights on the boat are not burnt out in the photo. The Lumishores really do look like this. Current boat has 6 of the beasts but I dont have a pic to hand:

This last one is just the two Lumishores on the tender lighting up a rock - the lights are on the outboard engine cav plate and the engine is slightly tilted up, to be fair...

Can you explain why please Simon? I'm curious, having always preferred starboard side or centre line helms on motorboats for the reason MapisM states.

Not wishing to be difficult but it seems to me that if I am in my wheelhouse the vessels which will be stand on if they are either to port or to starboard will include RAM, NUC, vessels engaged in fishing plus CDD - which will probably be bigger than me so I'm as likely to see them whichever side the helm is on, plus sailing vessels which will most likely have a large white flappy thing which again should be pretty visible either side or, if they aren't, invisibility to port is no worse than to starboard.

OTOH the stand on vessels which are only to starboard will include power driven vessels which may be less visible from the opposite side.

So, by my reckoning, having a marginally better vis to starboard is marginally favourable from the point of view of seeing stand on vessels. Although, in fairness - as per my comment above - having a better view to port will help with the head on, rule 14 vis.

Jeez, it's a block of flats!

I think that must be the ugliest floating apartments I have ever seen. Reminds me of the Costa Concordia in many ways. It might look better with a stern paddlewheel.

Phill, they are already ordered and on their way, boat is being lifted Thursday next week (assuming we don't all get covered in snow, that is). All things being equal I should be lighting up the Hamble by the end of the month.

Why do some raggies get so upset about people liking different things to them? Do you want everyone to be exactly like you?

I suspect underwater lights on a nearby boat would bother you in much the same way as a lively neighbour would bother someone next door holding a glass against the wall.

I'm puzzled. Now someone is ill-conceived? I understood the notion was.
Anyway, even if formally you might have a point on the latter, I reckon that in practice everybody understood what "someone" meant.
There's just one point still to be clarified.
Since you said that such notion explained a lot, care to tell us what, exactly?

Isnt it each to their own, I would rather see a boat with U/W lights than lay there and listen to the banging of ropes all night, we may be bright but the dont keep people awake.

I'm sure there is more wood in your boat. I am quite happy to have my SR described as "frozen snot" - Little Ship does it all the time, but he has a gorgeous mobo, not a tenement block. I doubt that the owner of that 4 storey monstosity would consider my boat anything other than an MAB. She is 40 years old next year & rather starting (like me) to show her age. Tarting her up would be a bit like old men dying their hair or wearing wigs. Or maybe even installing u/w lights.

I try not to have any pretentions - one would rather tend to get jumped on in these fora for displaying pretensions . . .

LOL, I had to google that one.
And I found this woodenboat forum thread, which maybe you and LS might find interesting.
What's next, are you going to suggest "Tarted up frozen snot" as the most accurate description for the Delaware version of SR?
And maybe also for any other MoBo with u/w lights....?

PS: as much as I love displacement MoBos, I can't disagree with you on the 4 storey monster.
And I guess you weren't aware of her top floor arrangement - see below!
