Ultrasonic anti-fouling

The concept of a fix that will drive two seperate systems from the same PCB not only offers cost savings, but also installation space, and potentially power useage as well. with a larger cat, I would be interested in two double headed systems, and at the original price had intended to order over Xmas (too busy at the moment).

Well, they finally replied, offering to refund my money if I don't want to pay the extra. They ignored my suggestion to leave the epoxy out to get it under 2kg, so I've suggested it again. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned Twickenham though.

Chris, who did you get a reply from? I emailed the UK and Aussie addresses and have still not had a reply. Has anyone else had a reply yet?

From Mi Yung. Mind you, I had also sent a follow-up, saying "at least have the decency to reply". He/she ignored my suggestion about taking the epoxy out. I have replied re-suggesting taking the epoxy out. I've copied their reply below:

Hi, Chris

The freight cost for your order to UK from Sydney Australia turns out to be GBP41.49(or AU$67.00). Unfortunately, the excessive weight was not picked up by our web store when the order was placed. If you would like us to proceed with the order, please call 0800-032-7241 during Australian business hours (GMT+12) and provide your credit card details for the excessive freight cost. Alternatively, you may cancel the whole order and the payment will be refunded shortly after. Please let us know your decision at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,

Mi Jung

Seems reasonable to me.

no real solution IMHO

so they totally ignore your request to remove the epoxy so the parcel will be under the 2kg hence the about £10 we paid for p&p...

i still have no reply received and will cancel my order as i can't stand companies who are making mistakes (web site not adjusting the correct p&p) without coming with a solution other then giving your money back.
well giving your money back isn't a big deal as most of us have paid by credit card so 1 phone call to mastercard or visa and the monies are back anyway...

their reply...

Hi, Biton

I am afraid that the kit KC5498 can not be separated.

You may use this link to calculate the postage from Australia to UK :

Get it sent to one of the Aussies on here, let them keep the epoxy and post the rest to you.
You could pay them by paypal perhaps.
Does that help?

Hi Ian

The project is advertised in EPE magazine (jaycar.co.uk) and I notice that the the prices are cheaper then if you order from Australia. There is presently no other source for the kit.

Have tried phoning Jaycar in the Uk but I don't think they exist over here . No one answered the phone and the message box said it was full

Not much more to be done then .. Except design your own  .. Will have a look after Christmas ..

If you follow the link to the oz post office calculator, you will find that getting it under 2kg doesn't help much. However, the AU$67 postage is for airmail. Sea mail is AU$36.10. I have emailed MI Jung suggesting that they send mine sea mail - I will then only have £12.35 extra to pay.
Unfortunately, with the time difference, you only get to exchange one email per 24hours, unless you wait until after 9pm, when they get in to work.
I will keep you posted, but nothing more will happen today.

your a star!

why didn't i think about this... i have a sister in law living down under!

update:
hang on, i paid £69.75 + £10 p&p now they want me to pay an extra £31.49 what makes the total of £111.24

if i ask my sister in law to buy it locally for $249 what is about £156,59 i'm still cheaper to pay that extra £31.49 even with some £ from uk customs...

I had an e-mail this morning, my extra postage for two kits has gone down from £72.30 to £52.30. I have to go away for today and will not be able to phone them tonight, so have plenty of time to decide whether to cancel. pay up, or cut the order to one unit on the grounds that it is experimental.
What does the team think?

UK Revenue and Customs may or may not catch you, but if they do there might be import duty and there will certainly be VAT (20% next year) charged on the whole cost including postage, and then our Post Office will charge you (£10 I think) for collecting the money! Be prepared for a £32.25 or more demand when it arrives. Mind you, if your sister in law bought it, and sent it she would have to pay the postage and it might still be caught for VAT etc, so if you want it, then its really a no-brainer.

I decided to bite the bullet and pay the extra. When the kits come I will start a thread on building them, probably to ask someone who is more clued up than me on electronics to hold my hand!
