I received the following e-mail from Jaycar today:
Hey Eugene,
We’ve had a chat to our CEO, and they said we are now to absorb the difference in freight, please disregard the previous email regarding your order.

Not sure if this was as a result of my e-mail outlining outlining the situation and proposing a win-win, or someone elses' similar efforts before me - but a nice Christmas present anyway! Hope it applies to everyone else's orders too, though! Good on Jaycar!
