ultimate sub 50 foot motor yacht ?

now there is a question. Prepare yourself for a raft of totally different answers. I have never really given this sector much time as it is way out of my league, but I would go for something like the Elling E3/E4 for versitility or Fjord 40 for shere style.

IF we are talking flybridges here, I'd say Fairline Phantom 50.
But if we are talking sportscruisers, I'd say the Absolute 47. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All IMHO of course!

depends what you are looking for
fast, planning or displacement

I would go for the Mochi 44 Dolphin, Apreamare 48 or Riviera 4400 Sport Yacht, Rizzardi 45 Incredible, Itama 40
the first is a lobster, the second is a Gozzo the third is an Australian build sport fisherman, the forth is a hardtop sports cruiser the fifth is a classic open boat
LOL this is my dream size if I had that money I would go mad....

I cna't see much to beat the Nordhavn.

[/ QUOTE ]Which alternatives did you look at? In this arena there are indeed excellent ones.
Nordhavn is possibly one of the best only if you restrict the field to grp hulls, but that's a pointless limitation, when looking at a full displacement trawler.

Yup, generally speaking, steel is the best way to go for such boats imho, for quite a number of reasons.
That was already debated in various occasions, I made some examples of steel trawler builders in this previous post.
Aleutian is another builder of stunning steel boats, though bigger than the 50' mentioned in this thread.
