Ugly boat competition. No prizes.

Vulcan picture posting

No beauty, certainly, even ugly, but not pig ugly. A contender, but not a champion. Here it is:

Re: Vulcan picture posting

How can you critisise a boat with brown sails. Surely the brown sails make this a classic yacht. Shame on you.

MV Picton anyone? (ducks)

Re: Aaarrghhh!

OI I said it once..................

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Re: Aaarrghhh!

...a finer looking crew I've rarely seen, but all the same!

They built 18 between 79 and 82

Re: Vulcan picture posting

Robbie,

MV Picton gets off on a technicality; it isn't a yacht.

Don't know what it is though. (also ducks!)

Re: Hmm.....

Thought that is what the Oriana is called, a proper block with a chisel taken to the 2 lower forward corners and a hammer to the 2 lower aft corners.

I don't have a piccy, but the ugliest boat I ever laid eyes on was a home made steel yacht, built by a German that intended to sail around the world. He got as far as Ramsgate run aground and was rescued by Ramsgate LB, the "thing" was hauled out and sat on props for a couple of years until it fell over. What happened to it I have no idea or the 2000 cans of corned beef he thought would do him for food on this historic passage.
It looked like a bathtub and was painted a s***ty brown colour.
Maybe someone could enlighten me as to what happened to it?

My vote goes for the <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wauquiez.com/GB/containers_gb/autres_gb.htm>Wauquiez L'Amphitrite</A> - saw one on the hard, urgh!

Sorry my posting made no sense. What I meant to say was you can't have short loa, shallow draft and full standing headroom, with elegance. That's four things! The corribee is a lovely looking boat but that is because she doesn't try to cater for the standing requirements of anyone bigger than Janette Krankie.
