Ugly boat competition. No prizes.

Colvic Victor 50? Has 12 feet of straight lines amidships, which I always thought was what you'd get if you used a 12" ruler on a 1:12 drawing.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Re: She\'s one of my neighbours

Maybe but your talking of a 50' boat with top build quality. A bit of freshening up wouldn't break the bank - and you don't need to relay the teak decks...!

OK it's 5:35pm - let's time TK's reaction...

Somebody pinched mine as well..... the Buckler Islander is a shocker. Saw an East european beauty only today; Romantica (or some such) 26. Looks like an albino frog with wind.

He Shoots... He scores!!!

Controversial, but, much as I "like" them, for what they stand for (safe, family, go anywhere sailing) they just are ugly little brutes!

It's the knuckle on the bow. Claimed to be for seakeeping - actually makes the v berth bigger....

Hmm.....

My mate bought that one, Katerina, we thort it worked rather well. Anyhow it's long gone and he's now got a 63 footer!

STS Lord Nelson

Not nice close up, but seen from a distance at sea with full sail set she is fantastic. Suspect any boat looks good, provided you are far enough away.
Edited by RobbieW on 20/05/2004 10:29 (server time).

Somemone took my favourite which was the Virgo Voyager. Three things you cannot have together are LOA of less than about 30 feet, shallow draft, and elegance.

The Centaur is a beaut compared to its ugly little sister the Warwick which is a centaur that has escaped from a car crusher at the last minute. There is a particularly fine example next to me which has a single huge angular window on each side rather than the normal two small windows. Hmm...Nice. . On the other hand who wants beauty when you can have practicality.

Who was it that said that all women are angels fallen from heaven: its just that some have had a harder landing than others?

Reputedly great cruising boats and I know of 2 happy owners, but in JJs words not the prettiest thing to have come off Holman & Pyes drawing board, Oyster Mariner 35
