Gllop gloop glug!...arr, got the aqualung on now. Bit damp ain't it.

Sonning's closed, road from Wokingham to Twyford is closed. All of the roads across the Loddon are flooded...Sandford Lane is excellent in the Jeep, 3foot deep for about a mile, with quite a current going across it, and the roundabout at Earley where the cinema is (off A329M) is a disaster area, and the Mill Hotel just down the road from there looks like Atlantis descending into the floods. Lands End is traversable only by submarine (nominal boating link)

Myself and only other neighbour with 4x4 put marker poles in our road yesterday so we can navigate without going into the drainage ditches! Thinking about getting a canoe

Eeeeee - them was the days!!! I used to police round that area and remember being called out every time the waters rose - and what idiot did allow them to build the cinema on a flood plain!!!! As for the car park for the park and ride its always a nice touch when the commuters come back from Reading and discover they need a ferry service to get to the car!

Re: and here in sunny lincolnshire

The floods have help danbrit to settle re taking the ground. She now sits in her own hole !!!! what a reliefe as I have been fretting over the way she leaned against the pylons .

We are very lucky here as the whole area has a very well maintained drainage and flood system, mind you the amount of water going through the drain out of Boston from Lincoln is dangerousely high !!!!.
cheers
Mick

It will never reach my house but AndyP phoned me earlier to say its over his patio and up to his first step. He lives in one of those beautiful boathouses right at the end of the Henley Regatta Course.

Well, Byron, we had 7" here of rain on New Year's Eve. S'posed to be the dry season, so they took our roof tiles off and left only tar paper on it for the night in readiness for new tiles. We were very lucky to have only one leak onto tiled floor. Wifey unfortunately slipped on the wet surface and hurt her knee. A few drinks deadened the pain. We'll probably sue the roofer as it's the done thing here to make a bit of extra dosh. Road was a bit flooded and golf course was a lake - I prefer it that way- but it soon drained away, much to the sea birds' disappointment. Happy New Year.

G'day Byron,

I had an offer for some snow to sent here to cool us down, however as we had our first shower for 8 months just a few ago, can I ask for some rain instead?

I Know this won't help.....

Conditions change. It was -38C here a few days ago, now only -25C... It's a good thing our boat is in a safe place in an old industrial hall.

Does anybody know what area of land would be flooded if the EA opened all the wiers and let the Thames Water out, the Palace of Westminister and Downing street maybe? Any Idears?

They have an "interim service" back on.

Lots of stuff for Thames, looks nasty - may be worth a look.

I sent them a snottogram yesterday - no reply as yet

Hope you keep your feet dry
